$260.00

Thrifted cotton baby T-shirt remade with spray-painted logo intervention.

File under: #1990sHipHop, #BrandSubversion, #StreetwearHistory, #LogoCulture

Description

Cotton baby T-shirt originally produced by Gap, sourced secondhand in near-new condition. The garment has been altered through a single graphic intervention: post-consumer acrylic paint applied with a re-pressurized spray can directly over the printed logo, transforming “Gap” into “Rap.”

The modification references a period in the 1990s when hip-hop culture entered mainstream advertising while retaining its own internal codes. The gesture echoes moments such as LL Cool J’s appearance in Gap advertising while wearing a FUBU hat—an instance where corporate visibility and self-authored identity occupied the same frame.

Here, the logo alteration is direct and unembellished. The base garment remains intact; the paint sits visibly on the surface. The result documents a small act of typographic shift rather than a total transformation.

A Chains patch is affixed at the back neck.
