Bunny Basket Handbag

$245.00

Vintage woven Easter bunny basket from the artist’s childhood, restored and reinforced for use as a functional everyday mini handbag.

Category: Restored

File Under: #EasterBasket, #HolidayEphemera

Description

Woven straw Easter basket originally used for candy collecting during late-1980s egg hunts. The basket features a stylized bunny face with upright ears and braided straw handles, lined with green plastic for durability.

The left ear was damaged and partially unraveled. All broken straw strands were fully removed. The ear structure was reinforced with hand-stitched embroidery thread, and a red plaid flannel textile was introduced to replace the missing straw panel. The repair is secured using white upholstery gauge thread, intentionally visible. The ear is additionally stylized with a small safety pin.

A hand-stamped aluminum tag reading “All Cops Are Bastards — CHAINS — 2026” has been stitched to the rear of the basket using red embroidery thread, marking its entry into the archive.

Restored for contemporary use. Fits a small folding wallet, mobile phone, keys, and a lipstick—or, alternatively, a generous quantity of candy.
