Description

Hand-knit sweater depicting Merrie Melodies character Yosemite Sam in intarsia knit. Found at the Hamilton Antique Market, where it likely originated as a domestic craft project—patiently made, and worn by someone loved. The piece has been extensively refurbished: two small holes were fully consolidated into the original knit, with no visible trace of repair. The entire garment underwent professional ecological dry cleaning and significant handwork to remove pilling, fuzz, and surface balling.

The sweater is substantial in scale, with dropped shoulders and relaxed drape. Fits as an oversized unisex medium through XXL, or as a sweater dress on smaller frames. Functionally warm, visually silly, and emblematic of the enduring charm of domestic handwork.
