Description

Wrap skirt constructed in Hamilton from recycled calfskin leather sourced from a liquidation sale of new old stock hides. The skirt is fully lined in synthetic satin and cut with long tie fasteners to allow for an adjustable fit.

The front surface features a hand-cut stencil of the Napalm Death logo, applied directly to the leather using post-consumer acrylic paint sprayed from a repressurized discarded can. The stencil was cut from leftover automotive window-tint vinyl salvaged from a local body shop. Edges remain slightly uneven, consistent with direct surface application on leather.

Napalm Death emerged in the mid-1980s as a foundational band in grindcore, a genre defined by extreme speed, brevity, and refusal of commercial structure. Their logo has circulated widely across flyers, records, shirts, and patches, functioning as a marker of anti-spectacle music culture rather than brand identity. Its appearance here follows that same logic: a graphic carried across informal surfaces.

Two double-sided appliqués depicting skeletal hands with raised middle fingers are attached to the ends of the leather ties. These were block-printed from hand-cut linoleum onto black canvas, heat-set, and sewn in place. The appliqués remain visible from either side when the skirt is tied.

The garment can be worn as a skirt or layered over trousers as an apron. Surface variation in the leather reflects both prior handling of the hides and the spray application process.
