Reworked cotton thermal long sleeve with mirrored flannel appliqué, hand-cut and applied by Chains.
Category: Remade
File Under: #SeattleGrunge, #Tribal, #90s, #DIY, #Layering
Description
Cotton waffle-knit thermal long sleeve, reworked with hand-cut appliqué in sun-damaged deadstock flannel. The appliqué is mirrored across the front of the garment, forming a symmetrical tribal graphic sewn directly to the surface.
The materials point to a familiar regional vocabulary: thermal layers and worn flannel associated with Pacific Northwest dress in the late 1980s and early 1990s, particularly in and around Seattle. The tribal motif reflects a period when tattoo-derived graphics circulated across music, comics, and clothing with little distinction between underground and mainstream.
The base garment and appliqué remain materially legible. Fading, wear, and pattern coexist without correction, allowing structure, graphic intervention, and cultural residue to sit alongside one another.
